According to an article in the Engadget weblog, Vonage (the company that offers low-cost internet-based phone service) now has an iPhone app for international calls. Using the app can make it less complicated to make international calls, but not necessarily less expensive. You do get one free call immediately upon downloading the app, so that’s probably handy if you need it in a pinch.
Internet based phone service is a good way to save money in general, and Vonage is certainly one of the top providers. That’s one reason that we no longer worry about nationwide long-distance calls, even when using a landline. Hopefully, one day soon we’ll stop worrying about international calls too.
